Werewolves of London....

This weekend, I'll be flying to London for a few days on business, so I've been thinking about the first time I travelled to the UK. It was in the mid-80s and I went there with members of my high school English class (pretty cool, yeah). While most of my classmates were excited to see the usual monuments and attractions, all I cared about was getting an opportunity to go record shopping. As one of three "punks" in my entire high school, I was often lambasted by my friends for my musical tastes. The bands I picked up on this trip were just fuel for the fire: The Teardrop Explodes, Japan, Fine Young Cannibals, The Mighty Lemon Drops, Thompson Twins, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, The Buzzcocks....still have each of those records in my collection to this day. On the plane home, my friends were loaded up with souvenirs from the trip. Me, I had a backpack full of wax.

New episode debuts tomorrow, featuring the return of "Guilty Pleasures" with my 12-year-old daughter and emo/pop punk "expert," Emmilee.

Episode 4: Times Are Tough

This week's episode of Twitch features new music from Panic Lift, Imperative Reaction and more, as well as classics from such bands as Blancmange and The Cure. Episode 4 also marks the debut of Twitch's new segment, "Guilty Pleasures." Co-hosted by our very own teenaged in-house emo/punk "expert," Emmi (who just also happens to be my daughter), each week "Guilty Pleasures" will feature tracks from new bands in her CD collection. Should I feel ashamed to like some of the same music as my daughter...maybe...but at least it's not rap!

"A Million Miles Away" - The Plimsouls (from the album Everywhere At Once)
"Failsafe" - The Panic Lift (from the album Witness To Our Collapse)
"Minus All " - Imperative Reaction (from the album Minus All)
"Humans=Cunts" - Alien Vampires (from the album No One Here Gets Out Live)
"The Perfect Girl" - The Cure (from the album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me)
"I Want You Back" - HooDoo Gurus (from the album Stoneage Romeos)
"Das Oontz" - Sebastian Komor (from the compilation album Endzeit Bunkertracks Act III)
"My Little Sexy Bitch" - DVJ Bazuka (from the album Mistress of Electro)
"How Does It Feel? (Theme from Techno Blues)" - Electroset (taken from the How Does It Feel? 12")
"On A Ragga Tip" - SL2 (taken from the On A Ragga Tip 12")
"Misery Business" - Paramore (taken from the album Riot!)
"Head On" - The Jesus & Mary Chain (taken from the album Automatic)
"Best of Both Worlds" - Midnight Oil (taken from the album Red Sails in the Sunset)
"Living on the Ceiling" - Blancmange (taken from the recently reissued, remastered album Happy Families)
